Based on university research, Forbes magazine reports that only 8% of people who make New Years resolutions succeed in sticking with them.
So this year, NK Consultants are making GOALS instead!
In a previous blog post we discussed setting goals and objectives for clients.
But as we all know setting goals is one thing, creating a plan and actually taking steps to achieve those goals is another.
Here are some ways to work towards your goals:
1. Really clarify your goal – think about why you want to achieve your goal – how will it improve / change your situation? What are the ramifications if you don’t achieve your goal? Understanding your goal can really assist with motivating you.
2. Work out what steps you need to take to achieve your goals – Do you need to set time aside on a regular basis? Do you need to learn something new / enrol in a course / develop a new skill set? Do you need to talk to other people who have achieved what you want to achieve to find out how they went about it? Do you need to open a savings account? Or find a fitness program that you like and can stick to?
3. Share your goal with people – let people know what you want to achieve and why you want to achieve it – people like helping people. While you’re at it – find out about other people’s goals – you might be able to do some really simple things that make a big difference to someone else.
4. Track progress while you work towards the goal – tracking progress can provide additional motivation as you see where you started; how far you’ve come and how far you have to go.
